What is the difference between the Fiesta-val Excellent and Superior packages?

The Superior package offers lodging at a full service hotel with a daily American breakfast. All oceanfront properties are considered Superior. Excellent packages offer lodging at a limited service hotel and no breakfast is included (some hotels may offer a Continental breakfast). Excellent packages are non-oceanfront.

How do I apply?

Our applications can be found online at www.fiestaval.com or in our brochure. The completed application can be mailed to Fiesta-val at 6223 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228; faxed to 804-264-6302 or submitted online at www.fiestaval.com.

How much is the application fee?

The Fiesta-val application fee is $75.00.

When is the application fee due?

The Fiesta-val application fee should be submitted with the application if sent by mail or sent under separate cover in the mail shortly after submitting the application online or via fax. Please mail the application fee payable to Spectrum of Richmond to, 6223 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228. Please list the school’s name on the remittance.

When is the deposit due?

The non-refundable deposit is due approximately 2 weeks after receipt of the application in our office. If an application is received after a payment due date, the deposit is due with the application along with the past due payment.

What is the payment schedule?

The $75.00 application fee is due with the application, the $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit is due 2 weeks after receipt of the application in our office, the 50% payment is due 3 months prior to the festival and the final payment is due 1 month prior to the festival.

What is the application deadline?

There is no application deadline! However, if an application is received in our office after any payment due date, payments will be retroactive.

Do you take credit cards?

We do NOT accept credit cards. Our acceptable forms of payment are as follows; school checks, certified checks, cashier’s checks and money orders. All checks must be payable to SPECTRUM OF RICHMOND, Inc.

What is the cancellation deadline?

Please note that our cancellation policy is located on the grey contract found in the “Do Now” section of each director’s handbook. Two copies of this contract are provided, one to be signed and returned to our office and the other for the director. Please refer to this contract for the cancellation policy and/or the “Financial” section of the director’s handbook.

Do you provide transportation?

We do not provide transportation-ALL transportation is the responsibility of the group.

What is the deadline for adding/dropping participants?

For overnight packages,the participant count must be finalized by the housing list due date (approximately 6 weeks prior to the festival). For Festival Only, counts should be finalized 30 days prior to the festival. There are some exceptions-please contact a Festival Coordinator for additional information.

When is my hotel assigned?

The group is assigned a hotel upon receipt of the $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit. Optional activities can also be pursued on the group’s behalf once the $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit is received.

Are hotel properties at beach venues oceanfront?

Fiesta-val Superior package properties are oceanfront with the exception of 1 night stays which are off the beach. Fiesta-val Excellent package properties are off the beach.

Do you use interior corridor hotels?

All Fiesta-val hotel properties are interior corridor.

Are options/extras an additional cost?

All extras-those meals and activities not already included in the package- are an additional cost. Our Options Coordinator can assist you with making these “extra” arrangements. Please contact Marcey Leonard toll free at 1-800-222-6862 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Is there a limit on the number of performing groups?

Choral performances are limited to 5 competing groups-any over 5 will be Festival Rating only. Instrumental performances are not limited.

How many judges do you use?

Fiesta-val provides 3 judges for choral, 3 for instrumental, and 2 for jazz band.

Do you provide rehearsal space/storage/security?

Rehearsal space, storage, and security can be added to your package for an additional cost and are all based on availability.

What day is the main competition day?

The main competition day is Friday-with Parade and Auxiliary performances on Saturday. Parade and Auxiliary performances may be on Friday in select locations.

When will I find out the performance schedule?

A tentative performance schedule is released 30 days prior to the festival. A final performance schedule is released 10 days prior to the festival. For planning purposes, performance schedule information may be available earlier than 30 days, but specific times will not be released prior to 30 days.

What kind of performance facilities do you use?

Performing Arts Centers, Hotel Ballrooms, Middle School and High School Auditoriums.

How many directors are free?

Fiesta-val provides 1 free director per application.

How many chaperones are free?

For Fiesta-val, 1 free chaperone package is awarded per 25 paid students based on a minimum group size of 50 taking one of our overnight packages (free packages are based on the double rate).
